Ladies, if you want to advance your network marketing or direct sales business quickly pay close attention to this training on promoting events. One of the best paid skills in network marketing is promoting events.

Promoting Events - How to promote events to build your network marketing business

I once had a top earner tell me that she attributed the success she had in network marketing to her ability to promote events. Now when I say she was a top earner, I mean she earned more than one million dollars per year via network marketing! I’ve always believed that when successful people share  success tips, you listen and I did.

And when she said events, she meant that she promoted everything that gave people an opportunity to get more information on the company.

What’s An Event?

To be successful  in network  marketing, you must make promoting events a priority.  Most people underestimate the power of events and their businesses suffer as a result. In order to understand the importance of growing your business by promoting events, you should know what I consider an event in the network marketing profession.

An event is a conference call, a business launch, business presentation, training, recognition & awards ceremony, webinar, live video on social media, product launches, company conventions, etc.

The best way to think of an event is: any gathering of representatives where a prospect gets to see something about your business.

Too often ladies, we only consider events to be the large gatherings that occur at hotel meetings, company conferences, etc.

Why Promoting Events is Important

One of the reasons to promote events is to give people the chance to see a bigger picture about your business.  If your prospect simply watches a video or meets with you alone or with you and another rep, they don’t really know how big the opportunity is.  They don’t fully understand the impact that the business has made on the lives of other people.

They certainly don’t yet fully understand what the business can do for them, so you have to get them to attend an event.  Preferably get them to attend several events.

The best way to get them to attend is by promoting the event.

How To Promote Events

Learning how to promote events is a requirement for a successful network marketing career. I like to tell people, you have to learn to promote like Don King in order to get people to show up at events. Here are three elements to incorporate when promoting events:

  • Be excited
  • Explain to the prospect why the event will be worth their time
  • Show the prospects (what’s in it for them) WIIFT

Incorporate statements such as “This is a one time opportunity for you to meet…”, “I don’t know when there will be another meeting like this”, “This woman is like the Oprah Winfrey of our profession’, “I’m not even sure I can get you on the guest list…” 

You must make the event worthy of their time by promoting and make it sound like it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“An event is anything that gives your prospect an exposure to your business opportunity or products.”

Your Secret Weapon

When promoting events, you have to use your secret weapon: Fear of Loss. The reason that fear of loss works so well is because people will always do more for what they stand to lose vs. what they stand to gain.

Promote Events to get the attention of the four (4) personality types

You may be aware that there are four different personality types. If you’re not familiar with them, read my post on the four (4) personality types. It’s important to tailor your promotion of your event to get the attention of the different personalities. Keep in mind that people are motivated by different things, so you have to promote based on what’s likely to move them to action.

Now I know you maybe thinking, “Isn’t that going overboard?” My answer is “absolutely not” if you want to become a successful network marketer. Top earners in network marketing are master promoters. Here’s a secret… I attribute much of the success I have had in network marketing to promoting events.

Teach Your Team How To Promote Events

Once you learn how to promote events you must next teach your team members how to promote events.  It’s not enough that you are the only promoter.  You also have to get your team to do the same; that’s the only way you’re going to create massive momentum in your business. Teach your team the power of fear of loss and also words that move people to action.

Instruct them to incorporate phrases such as “One time event”, “I only have a two VIP seats left”, “Only a select group of people are being added to the guest list.”  These are phrases that make people change their plans, commit to attending and then actually show up.

Why Promoting Events Works

When you promote properly and so does your team, you all will have guests show up at events.  The guests now see the bigger picture and they hear testimonials from people with similar professional backgrounds, family backgrounds, health challenges, financial challenges, etc. who have had success via your company. 

This is often just what the prospect needs to make a decision to partner with you.  For reps that haven’t been plugged in, events are also good to get them rejuvenated.

Once you learn how to promote events, you are going to be well on your way to having massive success in the network marketing profession.
